ARC provided by NetGalley Well, that was weird。 That is my overall opinion of this book, weird。 It felt kind of off to me, I don't know why exactly but I just didn't really like what it had going for it。 The art was ok but the story was just not something I was into。 I like slice-of-life manga well enough but the setup for this one just didn't pan out in a way I liked。 The characters were not amongst my favorites for protagonists, they were just too mysterious without being intriguing and too sm ARC provided by NetGalley Well, that was weird。 That is my overall opinion of this book, weird。 It felt kind of off to me, I don't know why exactly but I just didn't really like what it had going for it。 The art was ok but the story was just not something I was into。 I like slice-of-life manga well enough but the setup for this one just didn't pan out in a way I liked。 The characters were not amongst my favorites for protagonists, they were just too mysterious without being intriguing and too smart without any conflicts。 I know that none of this is particularly helpful but I just didn't vibe with this book to either extreme of emotions。 It was fine。 I'm sure others will like it more than I did and I say hats off to them, but this was just not my cup of tea。 。。。more

Extremely silly/absurd but cute, at times。 The male lead is a bland everyboy, but he seems to have a good heart。 I don't know what the girl's deal is, but I'm betting she's an alien or some type of supernatural being。 Not sure if I’d read any more of this。2。5 Extremely silly/absurd but cute, at times。 The male lead is a bland everyboy, but he seems to have a good heart。 I don't know what the girl's deal is, but I'm betting she's an alien or some type of supernatural being。 Not sure if I’d read any more of this。2。5 。。。more

I’m still fairly new to manga but this is probably one of my favorite books I’ve read so far。

Fly Me to the Moon, Vol。 1 by Kenjiro Hata ⭐⭐⭐⭐I really enjoyed this first volume, mostly due to the mystery surrounding the female lead, Tsukasa。 I sort of bounced back and forth between really liking the strangeness of the circumstances surrounding her while also finding her to be borderline creepy。 I mean, imagine having a fleeting meeting with a stranger one night years ago, never even learning their name, and then they suddenly show up on your doorstep several years later。 Unfortunately, Na Fly Me to the Moon, Vol。 1 by Kenjiro Hata ⭐⭐⭐⭐I really enjoyed this first volume, mostly due to the mystery surrounding the female lead, Tsukasa。 I sort of bounced back and forth between really liking the strangeness of the circumstances surrounding her while also finding her to be borderline creepy。 I mean, imagine having a fleeting meeting with a stranger one night years ago, never even learning their name, and then they suddenly show up on your doorstep several years later。 Unfortunately, Nasa, our male lead, never thinks to ask Tsukasa the #1 question that immediately popped into my head - how in the world did she know where he lives?? The thing is, that fateful night - what, three, four years ago? - Nasa fell in love at first sight with Tsukasa to the point he was so distracted by wanting to talk to her that he unwittingly walked in front of an oncoming truck。 Ouch! So in the present day, after pining for her all those years, he's not really inclined to ask all that many questions。 He's just happy she's there at all。 Still, it does leave the reader with tons of questions。 Because there's A LOT of mystery surrounding Tsukasa。 In an attempt to save Nasa from the oncoming truck, she actually jumps in front of him, taking the brunt of the hit。 He's still seriously injured while she's only mildly so。。。clearly there's something unusual going on with her。 Honestly, there whole first meeting is incredibly surreal (I loved it!) and when they reunite years later, her with wedding registration papers in hand, it's so unsettling but in a good way because I'm dying to see where this goes! The series is generally a slice of life romantic comedy with a good mystery thrown in surrounding Tsukasa's true identity (though I personally feel there's enough clues in this first volume alone to make an educated guess)。 The couple are married fairly early on, but another unique layer is that they're both still really young - Nasa is only 18 while Tsukasa is a mere 16 (though, I mean, is she really?)。 Part of the charm is that we get to experience them figuring out this whole marriage thing, which is a pretty daunting task considering they're still, for all intents and purposes, complete strangers。 You know, random side note, this series actually reminds me a lot of another one I'm reading right now (sans all the mystery and being strangers) called We're New at This。 Tsukasa reminds me a lot of Sumika in her mannerisms。 Anyway, I'm intrigued so on to the next volume! 。。。more

Well this wasted no time getting into it。 Nasa (yes that is his name) is a guy who wanted to achieve great things in life because people made fun of his name。 In doing so he became getting everything he wanted in terms of grades and a life and then met Tsukasa, a strange girl who saves his life after he gets hit by a truck because he had his eyes on her。 They quickly get married soon after and begin their life together。 And as strange as it sounds, it somehow works。 The adventure of these two th Well this wasted no time getting into it。 Nasa (yes that is his name) is a guy who wanted to achieve great things in life because people made fun of his name。 In doing so he became getting everything he wanted in terms of grades and a life and then met Tsukasa, a strange girl who saves his life after he gets hit by a truck because he had his eyes on her。 They quickly get married soon after and begin their life together。 And as strange as it sounds, it somehow works。 The adventure of these two through early days of marriage is pretty great。 Wondering what they can and can not do, see, touch。 What they should do as a married couple。 The mystery of where this girl came from。 It all somehow works。 The pacing works after the jarring start but it did take me a bit to get into the rhythm of it。 But overall super cute and fun。 I'll be buying more。 。。。more

Slice of Life/Light Romance。 The characters are pretty likable。 I bought this one to see if I was interested in going further into the series (3 out in English now)。 After reading this one, I gladly bought the next 2 and can't wait to continue the story。 Slice of Life/Light Romance。 The characters are pretty likable。 I bought this one to see if I was interested in going further into the series (3 out in English now)。 After reading this one, I gladly bought the next 2 and can't wait to continue the story。 。。。more

Fairly enjoyed this as well as volume two。 It's very cute and fluffy, which is nice, but it also has a twinge of mystery that appeals to me。 I'm very excited to see where this leads in future volumes。 Fairly enjoyed this as well as volume two。 It's very cute and fluffy, which is nice, but it also has a twinge of mystery that appeals to me。 I'm very excited to see where this leads in future volumes。 。。。more

*I won this book in a goodreads giveaway*I wanted to like this manga but I felt like I really had to trudge through this one。 This manga just felt very boring to read。 It's not necessarily that it is a slow moving or plot driven manga。 It's more like the story just didn't go anywhere, nothing really happens, and the development really sucks。The characters are extremely flat。 There's no backstory to them and they don't really develop anything that makes them more interesting either。 All we know a *I won this book in a goodreads giveaway*I wanted to like this manga but I felt like I really had to trudge through this one。 This manga just felt very boring to read。 It's not necessarily that it is a slow moving or plot driven manga。 It's more like the story just didn't go anywhere, nothing really happens, and the development really sucks。The characters are extremely flat。 There's no backstory to them and they don't really develop anything that makes them more interesting either。 All we know about the main character is that his parents named him Nasa and he got made fun of as a kid for it, and for some reason that's driving him to be the best。 At what? Nobody really knows。 The second main character we know absolutely nothing about, at all, not even hinted at。 I think the one thing that bothered me the most about this manga was the insta love。 Normally insta love doesn't bother me。 However, with other insta love manga, they actually have interesting characters。 Which makes the lack of development in the story less noticeable or at least more tolerable。 However, this manga just jumps straight into the two characters getting married within the first chapter。 Which really just cuts out a lot of development and honestly makes it hard to get attached to the characters。 I feel like that really just made the story fall flat。 There's no interesting characters to follow or get attached too and any character development or drama was skipped。 The rest of the manga is just the two having conversations that don't mean anything or go anywhere。 It's literally just the small chat you would have with your partner when you're bored and sitting at home。The age rating on this manga really confused me。 It says it's for older teens but I honestly don't see how。 It is definitely something that felt more geared towards a younger audience。 The art style and story just make it feel more geared for a younger audience。 There's no violence, swearing, nudity, not even drugs or alcohol in it。 So I think this one is pretty safe to give to a younger child to read。All in all would I recommend this manga? No, there are far better romances out there。 I wouldn't waste your time with this one。 。。。more

This is a cute story, if a little bland so far。 Nasa, who has always been teased for being named after N。A。S。A。, decides when he's young that he wants to live up to his name, and so strives to be the best at everything。 This over-achievement has made him a bit sheltered, and he has no clue about girls。 When a girl saves him from being killed by a truck, he falls in insta-love, and asks her out。 She agrees, but only if he'll marry her。 He agrees, faints, and wakes up in the hospital, recovering f This is a cute story, if a little bland so far。 Nasa, who has always been teased for being named after N。A。S。A。, decides when he's young that he wants to live up to his name, and so strives to be the best at everything。 This over-achievement has made him a bit sheltered, and he has no clue about girls。 When a girl saves him from being killed by a truck, he falls in insta-love, and asks her out。 She agrees, but only if he'll marry her。 He agrees, faints, and wakes up in the hospital, recovering from his accident。 Some years go by, and he's now 18, living on his own in an apartment, when the girl shows up。 They go get married, and a bunch of awkwardness ensues。 Does he dare hold her hand? What will their sleeping arrangements be? Is he going to get flustered every time he looks at her? Stuff like that。 Very trope-y, not that that's a bad thing。 This volume does not answer the big question- who is this girl, anyway? It's hinted that she has some sort of powers, so what's up? There's not a lot going on so far, but it's cute enough that I'll read the next volume, and the art is pretty。 3。5 stars, rounded up to 4。#FlyMetotheMoonVol1 #NetGalley 。。。more
